On 7 April 2015, Roots and Shoots No Shark Fin protection teams from the University of International Relations Universities and the Beijing Forestry University attended "Dating with the Ocean" – the World Earth Day feature held by National Geographic in the auditorium of Tsinghua University.

Dr. Sylvia Earle, praised as "Her Deepness", is an oceanographer, writer, and lecturer, who was a chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States. She shared with the audience the experience of living in deep ocean for years, and insisted that protecting the ocean is a must for human beings.

At the launch ceremony, student representative of the Roots and Shoots No Shark Fin project teams, Ms Jiang Mengnan, participated in the ocean conservation fingerprint commitment discussion together with Mr. Liu Hua, leader from BTV documentary Channel and National Geographic Channel. At the end of the program, Ms Jiang Mengnan presented the Roots and Shoots shark protection activity to Dr. Sylvia Earle and discussed with her the on-going shark protection design contest and their commitment to carry on protecting the ocean.

Besides the Beijing teams, other No Shark Fin protection teams from all over the nation also actively took part in the conversation with Dr. Sylvia Earle and Mr. Zhang Xingsheng, Director of North-East Asia and Greater China of the Nature Conservancy.
